Automated Aerial Security Surveillance

The challenge

On large sites, it can be prohibitively expensive to install security cameras to monitor the entire perimeter to verify alerts. In addition, getting power and data infrastructure to cameras on the perimeter can be problematic depending on the site’s features. On complex sites, even with fixed cameras installed, it can also be difficult to have visibility of all areas and to track intruders across a site once they have breached the perimeter.

To meet this challenge, we are developing an automated solution that will detect and track intruders in real time across large sites, while providing visual information from above. The solution includes all the other advantages of AdvanceGuard, such as easy integration with your existing video management system (VMS) or physical security identification management (PSIM) system and a user-friendly interface. Now, it is also possible to use drones for surveillance, automatically directed by AdvanceGuard to provide additional visual information operators can use verify alerts.

How will it work?

The new solution brings together AdvanceGuard’s radar-based, wide area intrusion detection with the HEROTECH8 drone in a box technology to deliver a whole new capability.

The AdvanceGuard software delivers real-time target location information to the HEROTECH8 system, which can be used to automatically direct a drone to provide visual information. Aerial visual information of the tracked targets is streamed back to AdvanceGuard and shown to the operator on AdvanceGuard’s user-friendly interface.

AdvanceGuard’s 360° long-range radars provide wide area surveillance with the minimum number of sensors. The HEROTECH8 drone has its own docking station, where it is housed and charged in between deployments, which can be strategically positioned on your site.

AdvanceGuard automatically detects and tracks potential intruders and alerts operators, maintaining a low false alarm rate and with its sophisticated rules-based software. The HEROTECH8 platform is able to pick ‘safe paths’ across your site, navigating different features, such as trees. AdvanceGuard has a geographic information system (GIS) interface and can define privacy and geo zones as required. The result is an automated end-to-end system, which provides the information security teams need to maintain a secure site of any size.

The automated system enables your team to respond, whilst keeping security personnel out of harm’s way. The presence of the drone communicates to the target that they have been detected and acts as a deterrent.
