After a redesign of Bristol’s Airport terminal in 2011, it was discovered a critical point boundary was identified as a security hazard. The critical point was in close proximity to an area of open ground, where there was potential for unauthorised personnel to easily cross the open area and gain access to the airport.
About the project
The airport decided a fully automated wide-area surveillance system was the best solution, as it would result in significant operational benefits and reduced on-going costs. Navtech’s AdvanceGuard system was chosen and one radar was installed alongside PELCO Espirit TI thermal cameras to cover the critical area. Navtech provided Bristol Airport with increased security whilst also eliminating the cost of manned guarding in the critical area.
