Watch the video: Demonstrating radar in a smoke filled tunnel

Norway has over 900 road tunnels covering approximately 750km. With over 500 radar installed in the most critical tunnels, Navtech’s radar-based Automatic Incident Detection is trusted by operators and emergency services to help keep tunnels safe.

We’re proud to have joined VIA, a tunnel cluster group in Norway working to raise the standard for tunnel safety and drive innovative technology development. To mark the beginning of our collaboration, VIA hosted a live demonstration of our tunnel safety technology in their test tunnel.

During the event, Rogaland and Haugaland Fire Departments were invited to see our radar technology operating through smoke. They also tested our Situational Awareness web interface for emergency services. This feature of our ITS safety system, ClearWay, has been developed following feedback from the fire services on the challenges they face locating people in a tunnel fire.
