Oxford Robotics Institute (ORI) are a world-leading research group who explore and challenge the capabilities of robotics and autonomy. Over 10 years ago, they were one of the first to run an autonomous vehicle, before many thought it possible.
About the project
ORI recognise the huge potential of radar to meet the challenge of reliable automation in adverse conditions for autonomous vehicles. Despite the progression towards autonomy over the years using many different sensors, investment into radar imaging has been largely overlooked. Through our partnership they are taking forward their research using Navtech's high-resolution radar technology.
ORI has tested the Navtech radar sensor in the harshest conditions and against other autonomous vehicles sensors in the Oxford Radar RobotCar Dataset project. Results show the application of our radar technology offers exciting opportunities to help enable reliable and safe operation in autonomous vehicles.
