Navtech Partners in Winning H2020 Consortium

Innovation is at the core of what we do which is why, at Navtech, we are so excited to be a part of the winning consortium that is accelerating connected and automated freight transport.

The European Commission, through the H2020 framework program AWARD H2020 – Scaling autonomous logistics (award-h2020.eu), has awarded a funding grant of +26 million euros for a 29-partner and 12  countries strong consortium to develop and demonstrate driverless heavy-duty vehicles in harsh weather conditions for real-logistics operations.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101006817.

EasyMile, a leading provider of software and complete solutions for driverless mobility and goods transportation, approached Navtech Radar to join their consortium — inviting us to bring our knowledge and expertise of high-definition imaging radar solutions to the automated driving technology team.

With EasyMile as coordinator and software provider, the large-scale All Weather Autonomous Real logistics operations and Demonstrations (AWARD) project aims to bring disruptive change to the trucking industry, fleet operators, and the whole logistics sector. It will do this by contributing to the accelerated deployment of innovative, connected and automated freight transport solutions in Europe and around the world.

The project will be rolled out from 2021 for 3 years with Navtech Radar developing a new radar for the application. The sensor to be developed will be tailored for the autonomous and logistics vehicle market by making it more compact, with a faster rotation speed and at a suitable price point for the market resulting in a safer and cost-effective sensing solution.
