The position - SENIOR aPPLICATIONS eNGINEER

Are you an innovative Senior Applications Engineer with a passion for cutting-edge technology?

Our high-definition radar company is seeking a talented individual to join our team and drive our department's growth in the Mining and Port industries throughout Australia. As a critical member of our team, you will be based in Australia (ideally Western Australia) and collaborate closely with our U.K. team to deliver solutions that require exceptional technical knowledge.

Most importantly it is our customers you will work with, we have considerable existing business across Australia and innovative new development projects coming up, our customers require a Navtech team that is as embedded in their projects as much as they are. The applications you would support are varied, ranging from: Vehicle Autonomy, Safety Systems, Process monitoring and Automation. Liaising with OEMs, End users, Research facilities and our regional Partner.

You will have an office base with our regional Sales partner, Teksal Safety who are actively growing our business in this region, giving you the opportunity to thrive within a team. This role will be key to supporting their sales activities as well as maintaining our direct customer relationships.

tHE ROLE

Reporting to the Segment Head of Sales (UK) and working closely with the Segment Head of Product (UK) the role includes but is not limited to:

  • Lead technical discussions in customer meetings.
  • Travel to customer sites to provide technical input for sales demonstrations and trial support.
  • Anti-Collision product commissioning (Safeguard)
  • Provide 2nd line technical support to customers + triage to 3rd Line Support
  • Application and environmental testing.
  • Write reports, recording experimental data and presenting results.
  • Understand and gather Mining Automation requirements to feed into the Segment development roadmap.
  • Create and submit Continuous Product improvement requests to the UK Product management team.
  • Support customers and system integrators in their development of application-specific solutions using Navtech radar hardware.
  • Support customers using Navtech's Software Development Kit
  • Represent Navtech at exhibitions within Australia.

Key competencies: 
  • BSc Degree or higher in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  • Basic electrical competence and/or Electro/mechanical equipment commissioning experience.
  • Ability to write simple computer programs (C++, python)
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and present field test data.
  • Writing reports and presenting results using Microsoft Office
  • Ability to make logical conclusions based on experimental results.
  • Aptitude for quickly learning new software tools and hardware systems.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Ability to liaise confidently with the customer in a high-pressure environment.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently, make decisions and use initiative.
Knowledge, skills & experience: 
  • A customer focused leader with a proven track record of success.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience within a customer facing role supporting complex systems.
  • 3 years' experience as an engineer working with complex systems.
  • Ideally Mining Industry experience.
  • Software experience – including personal projects.
  • Proven "hands-on" practical experience.
