Quality Manager

The position - quality manager (in South Oxfordshire)

Navtech Radar is looking for a Quality Manager to join the Production team, and support the company through ongoing growth. 

This role will ensure that all parties involved in the manufacturing process are held accountable for the overall quality of both our current and future products so that we keep our promises to our customers.

Our work headquarters and new production facility

Our offices are nestled in a wonderfully tranquil AONB location, at the edge of Ardington in South Oxfordshire, within an easy commute from areas of Reading, Swindon, Newbury and Oxford.

Our production facility is located in a new building on the recently developed Grove Business Park.

Key responsibilities:

As our Quality Manager, you will implement and manage the processes of detecting, reducing or eliminating errors in manufacturing and the supply chain. You will solve quality issues where they arise, bringing together cross-functional teams that use best practise tools (e.g. 8D) to identify root causes of issues and correct them.

You will drive prevention of quality issues through proactive involvement with R&D, Supply Chain, Production Engineering and Production.

You will monitor and report against quality KPI’s across all aspects of manufacturing to proactively identify areas of risk and improvement, working with the production engineering team to prioritise the implementation.

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, you will manage a dedicated quality team including:

  • A quality inspector to ensure all supplied materials, production operations and final product meet our standards
  • A quality engineer to manage non conformance reporting, engineering change requests/orders and internal/external audits

Key competencies

Our Quality manager will have a high technical capability, the ability to prioritise, excellent communication skills and a drive to exceed customers quality expectations. You will champion a quality mindset throughout the manufacturing team and ensure that it pervades. You will exhibit strong leadership skills and be a key member of the Senior Management team. You will have a passion for quality and possess an acute level of attention to detail, whilst being able to make commercial decisions based upon an understanding of the overall business strategy.

You will also have:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, manage and motivate teams.
  • Good knowledge of Quality Control and problem-solving techniques (Process FMEA / Control Plans / 8D problem solving / root cause analysis).
  • The ability to confidently and accurately analyse data and make sound decisions based on it.
  • A track record of delivering results within a challenging environment & able to provide problem solving leadership.
  • The ability to influence others to achieve goals.
  • The ability to be flexible, decisive, and quick-thinking.
  • A self-motivated, proactive mindset to be able to take responsibility for delivery of own and teams results

Knowledge and experience


  • A degree or relevant equivalent experience in a scientific or technical discipline
  • At least 5 years’ experience with demonstrable success in a quality focused technical role within a manufacturing industry.
  • Formal training in at least one issue resolution methodology


  • Experience of CE, RoHS, WEEE, REACH, LVD, EMC
  • Member of the CQI
  • Valid UK driving license
