The position - Quality Engineer (in South Oxfordshire)
We are looking for a quick-thinking, methodical, Manufacturing Quality Engineer, to join an expanding Production Team within a dynamic, high-tech and forward-thinking organisation. Their role is to monitor, test and report on the quality of products and components. They will be expected to inspect raw materials, components, mechanical parts, assemblies, systems or final products.
The ideal candidate will preferably have root knowledge in high value, low volume manufacturing, with a good knowledge of electronics and electro-mechanical systems. They will have a focus on detail, clear reporting and be highly organised.
Quality Engineer responsibilities will vary across production and production engineering, but the main tasks include testing systems and procedures to ensure they meet technical standards and creating quality and safety documentation. The QA Engineer will be responsible for identifying technical issues and getting to the root of the problem, too. They also proactively recommend solutions that’ll improve product durability and overall performance using 6 sigma and 8D analysis.
There main duties will include. Auditing systems based on ISO 9001:2015 requirements. Determining quality metrics for all manufacturing procedures. Monitoring the entire production cycle and reporting on malfunctions.
To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with various inspection techniques and be able to act as an auditor for all our internal & external systems identifying issues and recommending solutions.
Experience of radar technology is not necessary, as full product specific training will be provided. The role will be based at our offices in Ardington, but you should expect some travel to support PCB production and testing at our suppliers and certification testing at third party test houses.
- Focus on supplier quality, conducting goods in part inspections as required
- Provide details for supplier returns
- Build and test inspections, including final shipment checks
- Initiate and/or support quality initiatives
- Test concession management
- Support driving First Time Pass Yield (FTPY) to hit company targets
- Build revision management
- Coordinate Engineering Changes and Manufacturing Deviations into production
- Drive changes into quality processes including production route cards, inspection points and documentation
- Adhere to company and department processes
- Contribute to continual improvement initiatives within the team

You must have appropriate technical qualifications, including a solid background in quality assurance and ideally with experience of lean manufacturing techniques.

Navtech Radar is based in the picturesque village of Ardington just outside Wantage, Oxfordshire. The office is very close to Didcot which has excellent train links to London. The location is easily commutable from Oxford, Swindon and Newbury.
