Quality Assurance Tester

The position - QA tester (in South Oxfordshire)

Navtech Radar is looking for a talented and experienced software tester that is comfortable with both developing and conducting technical tests. In this role you will establish and integrate your own processes, including the selecting testing tools, as part of the overall company software development system.

Our offices are nestled in a wonderfully tranquil AONB location, at the edge of Ardington in South Oxfordshire, within an easy commute from areas of Reading, Swindon, Newbury and Oxford.

Our production facility is located in a new building on the recently developed Grove Business Park.

Key accountabilities

In this new role you will be:

  • Designing and writing test plans for each function within a product. Documenting how to test applications.
  • Running test plans and analysing the actual results compared to expected outcomes.
  • Involved in scoping new functionality for existing products and designing new products and solutions to ensure we can test and deliver what the customer needs.
  • Recording and reporting any problems/failures to the software developers.
  • Owning the functional, regression and user acceptance testing processes.
  • Supporting the technical author with developing appropriate user documentation
  • Supporting customer services are our project delivery teams to help identify and diagnose software failures and issues

Key competencies


  • Experience testing software within a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Experience with Functional, UI, regression, Performance, Usability, sanity checking
  • Degree graduate in Computer Science or an IT-based degree would be preferable
  • Excellent knowledge of how to plan and create tests and associated documentation
  • A good understanding of the use of software tools and repositories
  • A background in application testing and experience with automated testing tools
  • Exposure to a Jira/Zephyr controlled ticketing system or a similar Agile management system
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a close team environment and the ability to learn quickly and accurately
  • An inquisitive and probing nature with a desire to solve problems quickly and efficiently


  • Although not essential, the ability to read and understand simple code is desirable
