Production Engineer Team Leader

The position - production engineering team leader (in South Oxfordshire)

We are looking for a quick-thinking, methodical, Engineer to lead the multi-disciplined Production Engineering team. The ideal candidate will preferably have root knowledge in Electronics, Test and Electro-Mechanical systems. They will be a keen problem solver with a focus on detail and leadership.

The applicant will be working within the Production team with a primary function of supporting existing and new designs through their manufacturing life cycle. Responsible for maintaining a high First Time Pass Yield, managing obsolescence as well as managing iterative designs will be key aspects of this role.

Key responsibilities:

Experience of radar technology is not necessary, as full product specific training will be provided. The role will be based at our offices in Grove, but you should expect some travel to visit suppliers.

  • Assist with optimise production efficiency, maximizing capacity and quality
  • Become a product expert in order to manage existing products through their productionlife cycle.
  • Support and manage First Time Pass Yield (FTPY) to hit company targets
  • Own the production change management process including Engineering Change Requests, Manufacturing Deviations and customer special builds.
  • Facilitate prompt technical support to production, including support for individual unit failures. Investigate and manage resolutions to production test issues and report to wider team.
  • Manage obsolescence handling and support second sourcing activities.
  • Manage escalation process to R&D where direct support for production is required
  • Facilitate the design, build and documentation of test jigs for production or subcontract manufacture use.
  • Manage transition of product into higher volume manufacturing techniques, for example die casting and injection moulding
  • Undertake minor design modifications for improved build, cost or function.
  • R&D support in order to understand new products before handover into production.
  • Adhere to company and department processes
  • Contribute to continual improvement initiatives within the team


Salary will be competitive based on this type of role within the Thames Valley.
