The position - procurement manager (in South Oxfordshire)

We are looking for a talented Procurement Manager to support the company through ongoing growth. This role will be responsible for the planning, management and coordination of all activities related to the procurement of necessary materials to meet the changing level of product demand.

Key responsibilities:

As Procurement Manager you will be accountable for creating an MRP driven procurement plan for all products that ensures there is always a suitable level of stock available for development, manufacturing and support operations. You will work closely with the Buyer who will be procuring material to your plan to resolve any issues that may arise.

You will onboard suppliers selected by the Supply Chain Manager, ensuring they are familiar with operational, compliance and reporting requirements. You will regularly assess and report on supplier performance and discuss any performance issues that are identified, escalating these to the Supply Chain Manager if necessary. You will proactively work with all stakeholders in the supply chain to drive cost savings.

You will proactively monitor for obsolescence of parts down to a component level and lead projects to resolve issues and issues arising, building a cross functional team from across the manufacturing team to support where necessary.

Working closely with the production manager you will ensure that the procurement plan meets the requirements of the production plan and manage any shortages.

Your competencies:

As our procurement manager you will:

  • Be able to process vast amounts of data and turn these into simple, communicable plans and information to support decisions by the senior leadership team.
  • Be results oriented with a strong sense of ownership
  • Be able to perform well under pressure, adapt to change and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment to ultimately deliver on customer expectations
  • Have strong analytical and industry recognised problem solving skills (i.e. six sigma, lean, agile, 8D)
  • Have good business acumen, capable of interaction with senior leaders throughout the organisation and within supplier organisations
  • Be highly proficient in Microsoft suite of products and ERP/MRP environments (e.g. Epicor)
  • Be data-driven
  • Be able to travel to suppliers as required

Your knowledge and experience

Our procurement manager needs:

  • A degree level qualification or equivalent (typically HND or higher) in an Engineering, Business discipline or Supply Chain discipline
  • A CIPS qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement management
  • Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Track record of delivering significant cost savings
