Trains, Train Stations and Level Crossings
Reliable detection of objects, debris and people is essential on railways and level crossings to prevent damage, injury and death. Navtech Radar’s high-resolution, 360°, long-range sensors perform reliably, whatever the conditions. Rain, fog, dust or dirt, nothing can stop them. Working beyond the limits of a person’s capability, they can see when humans can’t, adding an extra layer of safety to crossings, stations and tracks. This reliable detection results in increased safety and minimal schedule disruption.

Reliable performance
- Fog, snow and rain
- Fire, smoke and hot gasses
- Extreme temperatures
- All level of light, from darkness to sun glare
Accurate detection
- High-resolution
- 360° field of view
- Long-range
- Anti-collision

How Does it Work?
Navtech Radar sensors can be placed onto existing infrastructure at train stations, level crossings or at the side of railways. Our sensors are unaffected by poor weather, lighting or environmental conditions and their fast update rate allows for reliable detection — even with fast moving trains. Radar sensors can enhance rail automation and heighten safety. They will detect any potential threats on and around the tracks. This will allow operators, conductors and drivers plenty of time to react accordingly. Navtech's sensors are available to purchase for testing and research on train automation.

Level-crossing Safety
Sensors can be installed at level crossings for pedestrian and vehicle safety. People and cars crossing the track when a train is approaching will be detected immediately by the system. This information is sent to train drivers and railway safety officers so they can take action.

Why Choose Navtech Radar's Sensors for Railway Safety?
- Low false alarm rates
Sensors only raise alarms when a true incident is detected (e.g. a person on the tracks) increasing operator trust in the system and resulting in faster response times.
- All-weather detection
Essential for situations where safety is critical and for future automation applications.
- Compact design
The compact design of the sensor allows for flexible installation and mounting options in complex places.
- Long-range operation
A long detection range makes the sensor ideal for applications such as railways, where a substantial distance needs to be covered.
- Easily to integrate
The sensors can be integrated with automated cameras.
