Emergency Situational Awareness

Incidents in tunnels can become serious very quickly and it is vital for emergency responders to have accurate information to respond effectively.

ClearWay's situational awareness feature can be added to existing radar installations to provide operators and emergency services with a visual map of the tunnel. An unlimited number of vehicles and pedestrians can be tracked, meaning the incident can be better understood by the operators. Emergency services can use the information to accurately locate each vehicle or person, for a smooth and fast response.

Advancing tunnel safety

  • Exact location of vehicles and pedestrians
  • Operates in conditions of fire and smoke
  • Visual map of tunnel

Explaining situational awareness

How does Situational Awareness make tunnels safer?

  • Fast detection rate

ClearWay detects an incident within 10 seconds, meaning faster response times.

  • Exact location of incident

ClearWay situational awareness shows the exact radar and stretch of road where the incident has occured. This is much more efficient than attempting to locate an incident via an emergency call.

  • Accurate information for emergency services

Emergency services are provided with the exact location, and also the number of vehicles and pedestrians involved.  The emergency service vehicle will also be tracked, so the operator will be well informed about the status of the situation.

  • Visual map for operators

Operators can see the road on a visual map. This allows them to make informed decisions when there are changes on the road.

  • Screen recording for post-event analysis

A screen recording can be stored for up to seven days. Therefore, incidents can be analysed for forensic purposes. This can help with future incident prevention.
