Valencia Airport received pressure to upgrade their security measures to deal with the increased threat of terrorism. EU legislation EC300/2008 stipulated that international airports need to have sufficient perimeter and airfield security to guard against safety threats. Valencia Airport needed an automated wide-area surveillance system to provide optimum security coverage across their large perimeter.
About the project
Navtech Radar’s AdvanceGuard solution was selected as the security system for Valencia Airport. The AdvanceGuard system was selected and two radars were installed providing wide-area surveillance of the whole airport, inside and outside of the perimeter. The installation of AdvanceGuard improved the airport’s ability to deal with any perimeter intrusions, securing the area effectively.
