Mining in the Minas Gerais area of Brazil is a multi-million dollar industry. The mining firms were trying to improve output, by increasing operations and maximising profit. They decided to increase automation on sites and therefore boost productivity for their clients.
About the project
Navtech Radar’s sensors were installed to improve the efficiency of mining production and reduce disruptions to the operation. The high-resolution, 360°, long-range radar sensors were able to stop collisions by quickly detecting threats before they occurred. The sensors were also installed for stock-pile monitoring. The excavator can be positioned more effectively as a result of the radar data, optimising the capacity for the next excavation. This made production at the mine safer and more efficient.
